Ways on How to Develop a Child’s Interest in Arts and Crafts

Ways on How to Develop a Child’s Interest in Arts and Crafts | By Jeffrey T Clark

Nurturing your child’s interests is an important and responsible duty. If your kid shows interest in particular arts and crafts, it is really important that you give support to your child. Don’t forget that if you showed interest and support in something that he does that is very close to his heart, like drawing, he will develop and excel in that particular skill in the future.

Art interests will show at a very young age. If they show interest in coloring, modeling or craft kids made for their particular age, then you have a natural in your hands. Expose your child to as many craft mediums as you can so you can identify the specific interest of your child. Just remember that safety is foremost. Do not give your child art and craft kits that have little parts that a small child can swallow and choke on, cords that he could strangle on, or plastic bags that he could fit into his head that raise choking risks. Buy a kit that specifically says what age the kit is for.

Parenting magazine is the nation's premier magazine for moms. Each issue contains age-specific child development guidance, information and tips on health and safety, and the best proven ways to stimulate your child's learning. Parenting is a great source of knowledge for new, expectant, and experienced moms everywhere.

Let’s talk about the value of kids learning arts and crafts. First of all, they develop the self-esteem of children when they see that they have a finished product that you, parents, or other adults appreciate their creation. You can do this by displaying their artwork where many people see them.

So where do you start supporting your child in arts and crafts? As mentioned, you have to make sure that the kit that you buy should fit your child’s age, interest and maturity. Once you have bought his or her very first kit, find a storage system like a plastic drawer with wheels that your child can keep conveniently under his bed.

The exact materials that your child will need will depend on what type of craft your child is into. If she likes scrapbooking, you may include rulers, protractors, glue and scissors into the kit. For puzzle-making or modeling, coping saws and measuring tools should be part of the kit.

When your child gains experience in what he or she does, you may want to invest in more permanent materials like adhesives that stay longer, tacky glue or rubber cement. You should provide your child with the right books or arts and crafts instructions that will help him or her get started with new projects. You don’t need to buy all these; there are many references available in libraries and in the Internet. You may even look for arts and crafts guilds and clubs in your area where your child can be a member of. This is one surefire way of your child developing his special skills.

Those are only some of the ways of supporting your child in his special interest. The important thing is show interest and appreciation of your child’s interest in this healthy endeavor. Many life skill will be developed if your harness arts and crafts skills in your child.

Acne Scar Laser Treatments

Acne poses a problem to almost everyone in todays society. Usually the appearance of acne starts out, in both genders, during puberty and usually continues into adulthood.  Acne can do quite a bit of damage both mentally and physically for a person to the extent of causing skin scarring, depression and lowering their self-esteem. Traditionally oral or topical treatments were prescribed for the treatment of of acne, but currently the acne scar laser treatment offers a new and fast approach towards acne scar removal.

How does it work? Well it causes the production of collagenin in the skin, the central protein of connective tissue in animals thereby thinning the scars. The required wavelength and the level of forcefulness of the laser should be determined according to the existing scar tissue . Usually a physician decides the type of laser to be used during the treatment procedure. Acne scar laser treatment functions in various ways such as,  without removing tissue (non ablative), removing outer layers of skin (ablative) and microscopically removing tissue (micro-ablative).

The ablative laser method uses a laser to vaporize the external layers of the skin and thus, eliminating the undesired scar tissue. As an effective result of this procedure, the collagen will be firmed up causing mild scar visibility. Natural cosmetics can be used to cover up any remaining scars. For this acne scar laser treatment, specific kind of lasers, known as erbium and ultra pulsed carbon dioxide lasers are utilized. This type of treatment will leave the unshileded skin exposed so it is vital that the patient take necessarily measures to care for the wound on the skin. In addition, checking up on the condition of the skin regularly for signs of infection will help it recover faster. The skin may tend to have redness for up to one year after the acne scar laser treatment, although redness might go away a few months after the surgery.

The non ablative laser works by stimulating adjustments to the dermis of the skin. This method of acne scar laser treatment does not cause any damage to the epidermis during the treatment procedure. The smooth beam laser heats up the sebaceous gland by focusing on it, thus helping lower the amount of sebum and acne that constantly appears. In addition, this acne scar laser treatment firms up the dermis and thins scar visibility by warming up the collagen using the laser. Typically an anesthetic would be administered by the physician before this method of treatment.

These currently practiced acne scar laser treatment procedures seem to have revolutionized the treatment of acne and, hence, providing a sense of relief to those who are suffering from acne.

Dec 25, 2009 – Commemoration of Jesus’ birth

In Christianity, Christmas is the festival celebrating the Nativity of Jesus, the Christian belief that the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament’s Messianic prophecies was born to the Virgin Mary. The story of Christmas is based on the biblical accounts given in the Gospel of Matthew, namely Matthew 1:18-Matthew 2:12 and the Gospel of Luke, specifically Luke 1:26-Luke 2:40. According to these accounts, Jesus was born to Mary, assisted by her husband Joseph, in the city of Bethlehem.

According to popular tradition, the birth took place in a stable, surrounded by farm animals, though neither the stable nor the animals are specifically mentioned in the Biblical accounts. However, a manger is mentioned in Luke 2:7 where it states “She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Early iconographic representations of the nativity placed the stable and manger within a cave (located, according to tradition, under the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem).

Shepherds from the fields surrounding Bethlehem were told of the birth by an angel, and were the first to see the child. Many Christians believe that the birth of Jesus fulfilled messianic prophecies from the Old Testament. The gospel of Matthew also describes a visit by several Magi, or astrologers, who bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant. The visitors were said to be following a mysterious star, commonly known as the Star of Bethlehem, believing it to announce the birth of a king of the Jews.

The commemoration of this visit, the Feast of Epiphany, is the formal end of the Christmas season.

Christians celebrate Christmas in many ways. In addition to this day being one of the most important and popular for the attendance of church services, there are numerous other devotions and popular traditions. Prior to Christmas Day, the Eastern Orthodox Church practices the Nativity Fast in anticipation of the birth of Jesus, while much of the Western Church celebrates Advent. The final preparations for Christmas are made on Christmas Eve.

Zinio.com - Centerfolds without the Staples

Over the Christmas period people decorate their homes and exchange gifts. In some Christian denominations, children perform plays re-telling the events of the Nativity, or sing carols that reference the event. Some Christians also display a small re-creation of the Nativity, known as a Nativity scene or crib, in their homes, using figurines to portray the key characters of the event. Live Nativity scenes and tableaux vivants are also performed, using actors and live animals to portray the event with more realism.

There is a very long tradition of producing painted depictions of the nativity in art. Nativity scenes are traditionally set in a barn or stable and include Mary, Joseph, the child Jesus, angels, shepherds and the Three Wise Men, Balthazar, Melchior, and Caspar, who are said to have followed a star, known as the Star of Bethlehem, and arrive after his birth.

Wikipedia Forever

“Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet has free access to the sum of all human knowledge.”

An appeal from Wikipedia founder, Jimmy Wales

Today, I am asking you to make a donation to support Wikipedia.I started Wikipedia in 2001, and over the past eight years, I’ve been amazed and humbled to see hundreds of thousands of volunteers join with me to build the largest encyclopedia in human history.Wikipedia isn’t a commercial website. It’s a community creation, entirely written and funded by people like you. More than 340 million people use Wikipedia every month – almost a third of the Internet-connected world. You are part of our community.

I believe in us. I believe that Wikipedia keeps getting better. That’s the whole idea. One person writes something, somebody improves it a little, and it keeps getting better, over time. If you find it useful today, imagine how much we can achieve together in 5, 10, 20 years.

Wikipedia is about the power of people like us to do extraordinary things. People like us write Wikipedia, one word at a time. People like us fund it. It’s proof of our collective potential to change the world.

We need to protect the space where this important work happens. We need to protect Wikipedia. We want to keep it free of charge and free of advertising. We want to keep it open – you can use the information in Wikipedia any way you want. We want to keep it growing – spreading knowledge everywhere, and inviting participation from everyone.

The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization I created in 2003 to operate, grow, nurture, and protect Wikipedia. For ten million US dollars a year and with a staff of fewer than 35 people, it runs the fifth most-read website in the entire world. I’m asking for your help so we can continue our work.

Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet has free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That’s where we’re headed. And with your help, we will get there.

Esquire Magazine – The Meaning of Life

Esquire Magazine appeared, for the first time, in October 1933. It was conceived at the darkest moment of the depression and was born at the dawn of the New Deal. The magazine began as a racy publication for men, published by David A. Smart and Arnold Gingrich. It later transformed itself into a more refined periodical with an emphasis on men’s fashion and contributions by Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the 1940s, the popularity of the Petty Girls and Vargas Girls provided a circulation boost. In the 1960s, Esquire helped pioneer the trend of New Journalism by publishing such writers as Norman Mailer, Tim O’Brien, John Sack, Gay Talese and Tom Wolfe. Under Harold Hayes, who ran it from 1961 to 1973, it became as distinctive as its oversized pages. The magazine shrank to the conventional 8½x11 in 1971. The magazine was sold by the original owners to Clay Felker in 1977, who sold it to the 13-30 Corporation, a Tennessee publisher, two years later. 13-30 split up in 1986, and Esquire was sold to Hearst at the end of the year.

David Granger was named editor-in-chief of the magazine in June 1997. Since his arrival, the magazine has received numerous awards, including multiple National Magazine Awards—the industry’s highest honor. Prior to becoming editor-in-chief at Esquire, Granger was the executive editor at GQ for nearly six years.

In October 2008, to commemorate the magazine’s 75th Anniversary, Esquire Magazine published a limited edition digital cover that featured electronic ink with moving words and flashing images. The electronic cover was used in only 100,000 copies that went to newsstands — its overall circulation is about 720,000. Esquire has exclusive use of E Ink’s technology for use in print through 2009.
